BEHIND THE

BRAND

MEET THE DESIGNER

Morgan MacAnanny is the founder and designer behind Morgan Kimberly, a Charleston-based bridal and formalwear label rooted in craftsmanship, storytelling, and a lifelong passion for design. Her journey began at thirteen, when she discovered a sewing machine tucked away in her mother’s closet—an unexpected moment that quickly turned curiosity into calling.

After honing her skills independently through experimentation, YouTube tutorials, and an early handmade accessories business, Morgan was accepted into the fashion and costume design program at the Charleston School of the Arts. There, she developed her technical foundation and creative voice, launching Morgan Kimberly in 2020 with her first custom commissions. Sewing her name into a gown for the first time affirmed what she already knew—this was a career she would never grow tired of.

During her senior year, Morgan debuted Studio 54: Beyond the Velvet Rope, a thesis collection that became a defining moment for both her identity as a designer and the aesthetic of her brand. Inspired by energy, glamour, and self-expression, the collection reflected her belief that design is as much about emotion as it is about construction—a philosophy that continues to guide her work today.

Following graduation, Morgan briefly pursued further education in apparel design before making the decision to return home to Charleston and commit fully to her brand. Shortly after, she was accepted as a solo designer in Charleston Fashion Week, marking a pivotal milestone and affirming her leap of faith.

Today, Morgan Kimberly specializes in custom bridal and formalwear designed and hand-crafted in Charleston, South Carolina. With a blend of old-Hollywood glamour, modern femininity, and thoughtful detail, Morgan creates pieces meant to be worn on life’s most meaningful days. She designs with intention, and the certainty that this is the space for which she was tailor-made.
